Art and music – team del paso’s community paint day

November 13, 2021 – Team Del Paso held a vibrant, free, family friendly festival and Community Paint Day. Held at VIP Jazz Lounge and Cafe at 1332 Del Paso Boulevard, about 150 neighbors attended. Visit the completed mural!

The Del Paso Boulevard Partnership provided sponsorship for live Latin Jazz music and a free BBQ meal by beloved Del Paso eatery Uptown Takeout. In addition, the Partnership curated a lounge in the front patio, complete with couches, grass, trees and tables made of old Sacramento News and Review newspaper boxes. The music was curated by VIP Jazz Lounge and Cafe Building owner Steve Garcia.

The lounge offered a place for people to relax after helping to paint the ‘paint by numbers’ style mural. Featuring the buildings and classic cars of Cuba, the open wall was the last piece in a 3 wall mural celebrating the culture and music of Del Paso Boulevard.

Councilmember Sean Loloee, Art in Public Places Manager Donald Gensler and Lead Artist Liv Losee-Unger spoke to the crowd. Community Murals Sacramento Managers Kati Kouklis & Emily Loen raffled off prizes.

Local vendors sold delicious baked goods. The library offered at-home art kits for kids. Coloring sheets of the mural were offered to kids. All attendees received tickets for a free raffle with prizes from Burly Soda, Sledgehammer Graffix, NeverBoard, Just for Fun Art, Blick Art Supplies King Cong Brewing Co. and Broad Room.
